ペトラ遺跡に4泊した後に、ペトラから南のワディラム砂漠に。
砂漠を4WD車で周る1泊2日のキャンプツアーに参加しました。費用はガイド、車、1日目の昼食と夕食、2日目の朝食、キャンプ宿泊込みで総額80JOD(約16000円)
ヨルダンの南部でサウジアラビアとの国境にも近いワディラム砂漠。有史以前から人が住み、古代ギリシャやローマ時代の文献にもワディラムの名が記されています。
日本人からすると砂漠は見慣れない光景ですが、中東では砂漠が広がっています。ワディラムにはペトラにみられるような岩山が多くあり、岩が長年の風食により様々な形をしており、非常に風光明媚です。
ワディラム砂漠の見所はアラムレの壁画、ロレンスの家、7つの知恵の柱、ロレンスの泉、アンフォーシの壁画、石の橋、ハザリ峡谷です。

After spending four nights at Petra, I head south of Petra to the Wadi Rum Desert.
I participated in the camping tour of 1night 2 days that stay in the desert by 4WD vehicle.
The cost is 80 JOD(about 110USD) in total including a guide, car, lunch and dinner on the first day, breakfast on the second day and camping accommodation.
The Wadi Rum Desert is in the southern part of Jordan and close to the border with Saudi Arabia. It has been inhabited since prehistoric times and the name Wadi Rum is mentioned in ancient Greek and Roman literature.
Desert is unfamiliar sight for Japanese, but deserts are spreading in the Middle East. There are many rocky mountains in Wadirum desert like those found in Petra and the rocks have various shapes due to years of wind erosion, making it very scenic.
Highlights of the Wadi Rum Desert are the Alamure murals, Lawrence’s House, the Seven Pillars of Wisdom, Lawrence’s Fountain, the Anforsi murals, the Stone Bridge, and the Hazari Gorge.
